Sports Travel Agency is directed and owned by Daniel Knop. Daniel already started operating as a Guide for international trips in 2002 during his years of study. Sports Travel Agency was finally founded and given its name in 2008.

Daniel played and served as a team captain for the junior academy teams U-16, U-17, U-18 and U-19 (1993 - 96) of professional club team SpVgg Unterhaching in Germany's top level junior leagues. Though still playing for the U-19 team he was also nominated for several games in the U-23 team. After the time at the youth level he went on playing for several semi-professional clubs, like e.g. SV Heimstetten, up to the Fourth League in Germany. Later on he stopped his active playing career due to severe injury problems.
As a student he was selected to the roster of the combined team of Munich's Universities (1997 - 2000). During that time he won the Bavarian and South German Championship and competed for the German National Championship for Universities.
In 2000 he was selected for a soccer scholarship at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. There he was part of the team that became NAIA Heart of America Athletic Conference Champions with no defeat and a game record of 9-0-0.

Daniel holds a diploma degree (German equivalent to US Master's degree) in sports journalism from alma mater Technical University of Munich and wrote his final thesis in 2003/04 about the development of soccer in the United States.
Besides he is a sports journalist and expert for soccer/football in the German and British media and was accredited for the FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany. He regularly reports from the home games of world famous German professional club FC Bayern Munich.
Daniel also works as a sports teacher at a High School in Munich where he is in charge of the women's and men's soccer selection teams.
